THE REPUBLICAN VIOLENCE MACHINE
REALITY- Let me first say that, at the time of this writing, the condition of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is still critical and my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery go out to her and her family. I would also like to extend my most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the families of the six people who lost their lives in the tragic shooting that took place in Tucson Arizona this past Saturday. It should not be forgotten that there were also 13 other wounded individuals whom are just as important to the families involved. I wish for their speedy recovery as well.
The shooting took place on January 8, 2011, shortly after 10 a.m. MST (UTC-7). A United States Representative from Arizona, Gabrielle Giffords, was holding a constituent meeting called "Congress on Your Corner” at a Safeway supermarket in Casas Adobes, a suburb of Tucson, Arizona
According to an eyewitness, Giffords had set up a table outside the store. About 20 to 30 people were gathered around her when the gunman removed a legally concealed pistol from his clothing and shot Giffords in the back of her head. He then proceeded to fire apparently randomly at other members of the crowd. The weapon used was reported to be a 9mm Glock model 19 pistol with a 30-round magazine. A witness said he heard "15 to 20 gunshots".
The gunman ran out of ammunition and stopped to reload. After he dropped a loaded magazine for the gun from his pocket to the sidewalk, unwounded bystander Patricia Maisch snatched the loaded magazine away as he was reaching for it. The gunman was then tackled to the ground by 74-year-old retired colonel Bill Badger who himself had been shot, and was further subdued by Maisch and bystanders Roger Sulzgeber and Joseph Zamudio. ~ (Wikipedia.org)
Jared Lee Loughner is the primary suspect. At the time of the shooting, Loughner was 22 years old and lived with his parents in Tucson, about 5 miles (8.0 km) from the site of the shooting. ~ (Wikipedia.org)
Sarah Palin, who doesn't really have a job at this point, stated in an E-mail to Glenn Beck that “Our children [Her Children] will not have peace if politicos [Democrats] just capitalize on this to succeed in portraying anyone [Portraying Sarah Palin, The Tea Party, and The Republican Party] as inciting terror and violence” [Which they do any way they can think of.]
Sarah Palin has been promoting guns and shooting them since before she was propelled onto the national stage by her breast size.
Palin released a video statement on Wednesday stating that "It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions. Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own; they begin and end with the criminals who commit them."
Sarah Palin was right about restoring individual accountability, she was don't laugh. Although I don't think that she can understand that what she said actually applies more to George W. Bush and his criminal cadre who are mostly responsible for the worldwide economic crisis that the we all face and deal with the consequences of everyday.
Acts of monstrous criminality are committed by individuals, groups of individuals most often called companies, and large sovereign well respected nations alike. To believe that there is only one thing in the world that is capable of monstrosity is to ignore the biggest and most dangerous monsters. Sometimes monsters are inspired to act by these larger, more well published monsters.
Or perhaps Mrs. Palin was letting her guilty conscience out and telling us all about herself.
Palin went on to say that she "listened at first puzzled, then with concerned, and now with sadness to the irresponsible statements from people attempting to apportion blame for this terrible event," Palin said."If you don't like a person's vision for the country, you're free to debate that vision. If you don't like their ideas, you're free to propose better ideas. But especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence that they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible."
First off that's not what a "Blood Libel" is. According to the New York Times' Michael Shear It's an anti-Semitic term used to describe the false accusation that Jews murder Christian children in order to use their blood in religious rituals. So Sarah Palin actually doesn't know what she is saying and she's admitting latent anti-Semitism.
Secondly, Sarah Palin doesn't seem to understand that people have died, and that that is more important than her political "career".
Third, Sarah Palin talking about not inciting violence is like Smokey The Bear advocating the joys of setting forest fires.
*****Setting forest fires is horrible. I do not endorse. *****
All Sarah Palin is really saying is 'I heard that people were blaming me and the Tea party and the Republican party for this and I don't think that that is good for my chances to become president before my looks fade.'
I blame the Republican Party in general and Sarah Palin in particular because they advocate violence, or condone those who advocate for it more directly.
I blame the Tea Party rhetoric of "bullets over ballots". I blame Jared Lee Loughner who was whatever enough to commit this atrocious act. I blame Loughners parents and family for not helping the 22 year old before he became a tool of hatred. I blame Loughner's copy of Mein Kampf and its odious author. I blame his school that obviously failed to educate him against such hatred. I blame his community for its failure to reach out to him before he became a despicable mass murderer.
I blame the Republican Party, The G.O.P., The Tea Party and whatever it calls itself next year and every member of it for either promoting or condoning the promotion of the general state of fear, anger, and unrest that have gripped this nation one way or another since September The Eleventh 2001. On that day George W. Bush had the opportunity to call for peace and unity. Bush could have then demanded that the world find and capture those who had attacked us.
Instead George W. Bush and his Republican Party have used every means at their disposal to create and foster fear in the hearts and minds of Americans. They started at least two illegal wars that nearly guarantee that America will have a new generation of terrorists to hate her. We hurt people in other countries and they will try to hurt us in retaliation.
Hurting other people is wrong. Whether it's with a gun or a tank or a well planned economic collapse. It looks silly on the screen in front of me to read the phrase 'Hurting other people is wrong'. It sounds simple as though it were meant for a small child. In today's "two-word culture" maybe it needs to be that simple.
Why is hurting people wrong? Because you wouldn't like it if someone else hurt you.
You would think hurting people was wrong if you were the one getting hurt.
Hurting other people is wrong. Driving other people to hurt themselves or other people is wrong.
It's Disturbing In This Country That We Focus On Those Who Have Been Driven To Violent Rage While Ignoring Those Who Are Doing The Driving.
"And we certainly must not be deterred by those who embrace evil and call it good."
No Mrs. Palin we, as a nation, most certainly will not be deterred by you.
And As Always,
